XOAK is an international ceramic installation. The “XO” stands for hugs and kisses as in “XOXO” and “AK” are my initials. They are a cast in clay, of my left and right big toe. Most of them have a painted nail, however, they vary depending on the batch. They are installed wherever I go, hanging, placed, sent in the mail or handed off. If one is found, it can be kept, passed on, thrown away, lost or found again. Once they leave my hands they begin their own journeys. My intention is to create them for the rest of my life. They represent a love letter, from me to the world. Inspired by the idea of sacrifice for the love of humanity. The project began in the summer of 2013. #XOAK
